One last comment from a very wordy person tonight -

I was watching Obama's speech on the patio tonight - as soon as it was over a neighbor (in an elderly, conservative, republican neighborhood) came out and posted a huge American flag on his front porch. Then they turned the lights off and went to bed.

We are so lucky to live here.

OK, I came back anyway, the moderation prison notwithwtanding. Let me point out something. Bush divided our country so bad it is a sin. Tonight, Obama started an appeal to unite the United States. You got problems with other religions? Other races? Other people who don't follow your line? Well, chill. We have had 8 years of Republican hate. Who do you want to hate? Give our new President a chance to unite us and to unite the world. Is that asking too much? As much as I want to tell moderation to fk itself,I hope this go0es through. I hope for the best for our country, which I think Obama can deliver. Not to gloat, but Bush has failed miserable, and McCain was just following along the same path. I will fly my American flag tomorrow more proudly than I have ever flown it in my life.

My state of mind right now can best be envisioned as me doing donuts in a monster truck, in John McCain's front yard, drinking Jack Daniels and blaring Lynyrd Skynyrd. And the monster truck has an Obama bumper sticker.

Then I envy you - you're very lucky davemc321 - I only know her from her postings but I'm so glad for her personality and professionalism. I wish her the very best, lots of sleep and cold sodas and exclusive interviews. Because we're the beneficiaries and I'm selfish.

As an aside, I knew KT when she worked as a reporter, well...a long time ago in San Antonio. And she was as sharp and insightful and professional then as now.

A short note to KT and JNS;

Hopefully now I will go back to my less politically active life and remember I have a family and a job, because the country is in safe and trusted hands.

But in the meantime, my many many thanks to you both for your insight, wisdom, and insider knowledge. I am so grateful to you both - and part of it is because of your interactions (sometimes very courageous when we Swampcritters got rambunctious and um, snotty) and part of it is stems from the insight you provided non-insiders.

KT was and is always wise and level-headed, professional to her core. I underestimated JNS though - she has proven herself to be an intelligent, insightful, and gracious commenter and I'm so grateful for the opportunity we were given to watch this journalist grow into her own.

Sorry for the mush but from one of the swamp-cynics I am so grateful to have watched history with you.

Now back to work and family, the heavens are happy tonight.

Rest well Rustydog, it's going to be okay. We're going to be okay.
