The KT Big Fat Debate Thread

Can I repeat? We are in the middle of a huge financial crisis that has nothing to do with anything they are talking about.

UPDATE: 9:34 First gratuituous Hillary Clinton reference by McCain.

9:35: Hooray! Obama's actually talking about the financial crisis.

9:36: I'm having trouble hearing McCain over his tie.

9:46 McCain doesn't want to re-debate the decision to go into Iraq, but wants to re-debate the surge. Obama gets Norm Ornstein points for mentioning the "Committee of the Whole."

9:51 Lehrer now appears to have fallen asleep.

9:56 This idea of "cutting off aid" to Pakistan that McCain is pinning on Obama is also supported by Senator Richard Lugar, ranking Republican of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It would also triple non-military aid.

10:02: Let's stipulate: They both wear bracelets.

10:07: Existential threat. McCain's going all Sartre on us.

10:12: JP admits he can't say Ahmadinejad either.

10:15: McCain won't sit down across the table from the media these days, either.

10:17: McCain has known Kissinger since Obama was 12 years old.

10:18:  Amy Sullivan writes:  I can't be the only one to notice this, but obviously this is the catchphrase the McCain campaign has decided to use to make Obama sound naive. Four times so far.

10:21: Naivete. There it is again. Five.

10:25: Next debate's drinking game: "What Senator Obama doesn't understand..."

10:28: 9/11 answer is McCain's best moment so far.

10:32: Obama campaign is sending out an email quoting Rich Lowry at National Review: Lowry: "Obama is counter-punching well enough for his purposes—basically holding his own in a national-security debate."

10:33: "Senator Obama still doesn't understand ..." Drink!

10:37: "We've seen this stubbornness before..." McCain is trying to say Obama would be a third term of George Bush?
